Debate on Banking Access during the National Competitiveness Forum

The Superintendent of Banks, Amauri A. Castillo, and members of the Financial Studies Division of the Superintendency of Banks of Panama participated in the National Competitiveness Forum 2021. The main topic of this year was “Boosting Competitiveness: Retaking the Strategic Roadmap.”

The program included different working groups to receive contributions from the public and private sectors, which will be part of the 2021-22 Action Plan.

The Superintendent of Banks, as representative of the public sector, presented to the Working Group on “Banking Access” the actions that must be implemented to improve the country’s competitiveness within the next twelve months. This working group discussed different topics, such as: Modernization of the Banking Sector; Financial Inclusion (banking access, capital markets, SMEs); Fintech; Investment Grade/Risk Rating; and Payment System.
