XXVI ANNUAL ASSEMBLY OF THE ASSOCIATION OF BANK SUPERVISORS OF THE AMERICAS AND HIGH-LEVEL MEETING OF THE BASEL COMMITTEE ON BANKING SUPERVISION

In celebration of its 25th anniversary, the Superintendency of Banks of Panama (SBP) hosted the 26th Annual Meeting of the Association of Bank Supervisors of the Americas (ASBA), the 108th Board of Directors Meeting, and the High-Level Meeting of the Basel Committee on Banking Supervision (BCBS).

During the opening ceremony, the Superintendent of Banks, Amauri A. Castillo, welcomed the attendees to the distinguished meeting and highlighted the importance of the agenda, which included topics of critical importance to the management and supervision of ASBA. He also emphasized ASBA's commitment to becoming the leading reference entity for coordination and training in banking supervision and regulation in the Americas.

The ASBA Annual Meeting brings together the highest-ranking banking supervisors from 36 countries in Latin America, the Caribbean, the United States, Canada, and Spain.

ASBA is a multilateral institution that aims to contribute to strengthening and keeping up to date the most relevant regulatory and supervisory practices for banking risk management. It provides training and other programs to its members, in accordance with international standards, taking into account the situation of each country in the region. ASBA also promotes the strengthening of exchange and cooperation relations among its members and with strategically relevant organizations.

The High-Level Meeting is jointly organized by ASBA, the BCBS, and the Financial Stability Institute of the Bank for International Settlements (FSI-BIS) and aims to analyze the challenges and priorities of regulators and supervisors in our region in the current environment.
