The Superintendency of Banks of Panama (SBP) joined the XVII Annual Accounting Convention, organized by the College of Certified Public Accountants of Panama (CCPAP). This key event, held on September 17, brought together professionals from the accounting, tax, audit, and consulting sectors, spanning both the public and private spheres.

Representing the SBP, Yoriel Moreno Romero, Deputy Director of Banking and Fiduciary Prevention, participated as a panelist in the forum titled “Main Strategic and Compliance Challenges in Corporate Governance.”

The panel also featured distinguished experts including Amauri Castillo, Director of the Panamanian Association of Business Executives (APEDE) and former Superintendent of Banks of Panama; Temístocles Rosas, President of the Corporate Governance Institute; Roberto Kelso, President of Secure Line; and moderator Ricardo Carvajal, President of the CCPAP.

Key topics of discussion included the critical role accountants play in corporate governance, serving in essential positions that ensure transparency, accountability, regulatory compliance, as well as professional training and ethics. These skills prepare accountants not only to manage a company’s finances but also to ensure that all operations are conducted transparently and in full compliance with the law.
