The Superintendency of Banks of Panama (SBP) and the International Institute of Anti-Fraud Forensic Auditors (IIAFA) signed a Framework Cooperation Agreement aimed at further strengthening the SBP’s training and professional development programs in anti-fraud forensic auditing.
The agreement seeks to enhance the expertise of the Superintendency’s personnel in this specialized field, which focuses on the prevention, detection, and investigation of crimes such as fraud, corruption, and money laundering in both the public and private sectors.
To this end, the agreement provides for academic, scientific, and technical training initiatives, as well as the award of three (3) full scholarships to SBP employees, enabling them to participate in the twentieth cohort of the International Certification Program in Anti-Fraud Forensic Auditing, scheduled to begin on August 4, 2026.
During the signing ceremony, Superintendent of Banks Milton Ayón Wong and IIAFA President Juan Iván Rogers Harper emphasized that this partnership would facilitate knowledge sharing, promote best practices, and strengthen the technical capabilities of personnel, thereby contributing to a stronger and more secure financial system.
The agreement includes academic, scientific, and technical cooperation initiatives. It will also enable IIAFA to participate in training activities organized by the SBP and facilitate access for SBP personnel to international certifications, including the Anti-Fraud Forensic Auditor (AFA) and Anti-Fraud Forensic Auditor Consultant (AFAC) credentials.
Through this agreement, the SBP reaffirms its commitment to the continuous professional development of its personnel and to the adoption of international standards, in support of a stronger and more resilient Panamanian banking system.
