SBP and ACODECO Ensure the Publication of the Credit and Financing Cards Comparative Survey

Monday, 30 January 2023
  • The publications will be made available in both print and digital media.
  • The survey will provide information on financial and default interest rates, commissions, and other fees.

As mandated in Law 81, dated 31 December 2009, the Superintendency of Banks of Panama (SBP) and the Authority for Consumer Protection and Defense of Competition (ACODECO) have signed a new Cooperation Agreement to continue the joint publication of the “Credit and Financing Cards Comparative Survey.”

This quarterly survey contains information on financial and default interest rates, commissions, and other fees, as well as additional benefits that do not imply additional costs for the cardholder, coverage, payment deadlines, and acceptance degree, among other details.

Under this agreement, both institutions will share the costs of publishing and distributing the Credit and Financing Cards Comparative Survey in nationwide newspapers, both in print and digitally, during the months of February, March, August, and November.

Furthermore, the SBP and ACODECO will publish this survey on all their digital platforms, as social media has a broader reach to users and consumers.

With this new agreement, the SBP and ACODECO reaffirm their formal commitment to continue publishing this survey, which has been conducted since 2013, in compliance with Law 81 of 2019.

This agreement was signed on 30 January 2023, by the General Administrator of ACODECO, Jorge Quintero Quirós, and the Superintendent of Banks of Panama, Amauri A. Castillo.
