The Superintendency of Banks of Panama (SBP) participated in the Second Banking and Financial Forum, hosted by Deloitte Panama on September 11. The event brought together leading professionals from the financial and banking sectors, as well as auditors, to exchange perspectives on key industry challenges.

Representing the SBP, Director of Regulation Ana Raquel Velasco took part in a panel discussion addressing Panama’s recent exit from the FATF grey list and the regulatory challenges ahead of the upcoming Financial Action Task Force (FATF) evaluations.

She was joined on the panel by Otto Wolfschoon, President of the Panama Banking Association (ABP), and Isabel Vecchio of the Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF).

Ms. Velasco was accompanied by SBP’s technical directors: Luis Barahona, Director of Supervision of Financial Conglomerates; Bilardo De La Victoria, Director of Risk Management; and Roxana Castillo, Director of Supervision of Financial Intermediaries and Trusts.

By actively engaging in these activities, the SBP reaffirms its commitment to collaborative efforts that strengthen the resilience and integrity of Panama’s financial system.
