Panama Hosts CCSBSO’s General Assembly and Board of Directors Meeting

Panama hosted the General Assembly and Board of Directors meeting of the Central American Council of Superintendents of Banks, Insurance and Other Financial Institutions (CCSBSO, for its acronym in Spanish) on July 27 and 28, 2023.

During the meeting, topics related to the results and progress made by the different technical committees were addressed. The agenda also included presentations on new regulatory cybersecurity approaches, fraud management, its inclusion into the supervisory process under normal conditions, quantum technology, AI, international standards on sustainability and climate (the new global financial reporting standard), among others.

In the event, César Ferrari, Financial Superintendent of Colombia, took office as the new president of the CCSBSO for a two-year period starting from August 2023. Meanwhile, Amauri A. Castillo, Superintendent of Banks of Panama, will hold the position of Secretary of the Board of Directors.

Among the CCSBSO’s main objectives are conducting beneficial activities for the members of this entity to maintain and foster a close cooperative exchange of information relationship between the Superintendencies through covenants or agreements entered according to the law of each associated country.

Presently, the CCSBSO members include the Financial Superintendency of Colombia, the General Superintendency of Financial Entities of Costa Rica, the Superintendency of the Financial System of El Salvador, the Superintendency of Banks of Guatemala, the National Commission of Banks and Insurance of Honduras, the Superintendency of Banks and Other Financial Institutions of Nicaragua, the Superintendency of Banks of the Dominican Republic, and the Superintendency of Banks of Panama.
