SBP Brings Together Supervisory Authorities at the 2nd Supervisory College of GNB Financial Group

Monday, 12 October 2026

The Superintendency of Banks of Panama (SBP) organized the 2nd Supervisory College of GNB Financial Group, with the participation of supervisory authorities from Paraguay, Peru, and Colombia, Group executives, and SBP technical teams.

During the first day, supervisory authorities exchanged views on the Group’s main risks and areas requiring closer attention. On the second day, discussions expanded to include senior Group executives, providing an opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of the Group’s business strategy, corporate governance structure, and consolidated risk management framework.

Superintendent of Banks Milton Ayón Wong underscored the importance of this forum in strengthening coordination among supervisory authorities and understanding how corporate-level decisions translate into practices, controls, and responsibilities across the Group’s various entities.

“For an internationally active financial group, maintaining a consistent approach to risk management is particularly important, taking into account both the specific characteristics of each market and the requirements arising from its operations as a group,” the Superintendent of Banks emphasized.

The agenda covered topics such as comprehensive risk management, regional corporate governance, and accounting consolidation, with particular attention to digitalization, cybersecurity, and business continuity in banking services. Discussions also addressed risks associated with digital financial services, the prevention of money laundering and terrorist financing, anti-corruption and anti-bribery controls, and the use of emerging technologies.

Through this initiative, SBP reaffirms its commitment to international cooperation and stronger banking supervision, promoting prudent risk management, safeguarding financial stability, and supporting the provision of safe and efficient banking services.
