Financial education is an investment in the future. With this vision, Tu Balboa Con Sentido (TBCS), an initiative of the Superintendency of Banks of Panama (SBP), brought financial education to the 2026 International Book Fair (FIL), creating an opportunity to promote financial knowledge among children, young people, students, and adults and to highlight the importance of informed financial decision-making.
TBCS’s participation aimed to promote a better understanding of financial matters and foster habits that contribute to sound financial decision-making through practical content tailored to different audiences.
During the fair, the TBCS booth provided a space for learning and interaction on topics such as saving, budgeting, and responsible money management. The activities demonstrated the importance of presenting financial education in an accessible and practical manner for people of different ages.
As part of the program, TBCS participated in the “Aprendizaje al Despegue” period with the workshop “Writing My Financial Story,” aimed at students. Through a practical and participatory methodology, participants reflected on their financial habits and learned about how decisions made from an early age can contribute to building a sound financial future.
The Superintendent of Banks, Milton Ayón Wong, visited the TBCS booth and learned about the educational resources and activities presented during the fair. His visit underscored the importance of bringing financial education to public spaces with broad participation, enabling citizens to access relevant financial information in an accessible and approachable setting.
As part of its educational activities, TBCS also introduced Balboíta, its new character, developed as an educational resource to facilitate engagement with audiences of different ages and support the dissemination of financial education in an accessible manner.
The SBP’s participation also included a component focused on national identity through its Traditional Music Ensemble, which was part of the main stage program and presented expressions representative of Panamanian culture, contributing to the overall experience of attendees.
TBCS’s participation in FIL 2026 forms part of the SBP’s efforts to expand the reach of financial education and bring these initiatives to spaces where people learn, exchange knowledge, and engage with their communities. Through these efforts, the SBP continues to promote financial literacy to support families in
managing their resources responsibly and making informed financial decisions with greater confidence.
